In Search of Light a project by David Olayide Awarded 1st Prize People & Nature for the SUGi x NAVA Photography competition.
David Olayide is an artist from Nigeria based in Osun Osogbo. David's work is a captivating exploration of such themes as the intricacies of perception, the rich tapestry of culture and identity, the constantly evolving world of fashion and design, and the global discourse of recycling and sustainability.
Through his works, David sheds light on multifaceted subjects, inviting viewers to question, reflect, and engage in a transformative dialogue with the world around them.
David is a recipient of the Sub-Saharan Africa Arts Award (2023) and some of his works are published on magazines like PhotoVogue, The Four Faced Liar, Heimat Review, and Suboart Magazine. More recently, his work was published in Global Health 50/50’s Gender Climate Planetary Health Report for 2024 which explored the relationship between gender and the climate crisis.
“For me living in Nigeria where communities are often exposed to environmental waste, gave me the idea to take another look at discarded waste products and breathe new life into the idea of reuse and environmental sustainability, showcasing its beauty and potential.”
