‘Urban Forest’ was founded in 2016, by Shazhad Qureshi after a successful pilot of creating a Tiny Forest in Karachi using the Miyawaki Method.
The creation of a Tiny Forest in Clifton public park, resulted in the request to convert the whole park into a Forest. Clifton Urban Forest was designed by a German trained Landscape Architect keeping the long term sustainability and maximum benefits for the community in mind.
Till this date, ‘Urban Forest’ has created 8 Tiny Forests in Karachi and 2 in Lahore using the Miyawaki Method. Over 9,000 people have planted saplings in Clifton public park and over 30 schools came on an educational trip to learn about the native species.
‘Urban Forest’ wishes to expand the concept in the country and aims to convert most of the Park Spaces into forests to revert the growing heat islands and water shortage in their cities.
